Randy Wong-Westbrooke (they/them/their)
is an award-nominated scenic & production designer based in both NYC and LA. They are originally from Berkeley, California, specifically on the ancestral and unceded land of the Chochenyo-speaking Ohlone people. Driven by their mixed-Chinese, trans, and non-binary identities, they seek opportunities to work with diverse creative teams to tell radical, provocative, and intersectional stories that question and celebrate our collective histories. They’re looking to create spaces for the breaking apart and subsequent expansion of the mind, heart, and body, and when in community, discover ways that gathering, viscera, and experimentation can lead to healing connections.
Credits include: Sara Porkalob’s Dragon Lady (The Geffen Playhouse, Center Rep, Marin Theatre), Thirty-Six, Man of God, The Flick (Shotgun Players), Stoop Stories (Aurora Theater), Two Mile Hollow (Ferocious Lotus), Quake, Les Mamelles de Tirésias (UCLA), and many more with Beth Morrison Projects, Crowded Fire Theater, Marin Shakes, TheatreFIRST, American Conservatory Theater’s M.F.A. Program, SF Playhouse’s Sandbox, New Conservatory Theater Company, Custom Made Theatre, Cutting Ball Theater, Los Altos Stage Company, Palo Alto Players, as well as many other new and independent projects.
Their additional credits include production designer for the short film The Truer History of the Chan Family, music videos for Oakland-based music group Tune-Yards, and they have designed installations and murals for the lobbies of the Lighthouse Immersive Immersive Van Gogh Exhibition all around the country.
They have been a scenic art assistant with Oregon Shakespeare Festival's F.A.I.R. Program and a mentee in the USITT Gateway Program. B.F.A. Ithaca College. M.F.A. University of California, Los Angeles.
